Azumanga Cosplay Cafe Dad Hatby *calgarycosplay

Lols! Faces on Hats are stupid! I love Azumanga Daioh, Azuma is so good humoured she even makes fun of the stupid hat design. She pokes fun on page 81, book three of how having your face cut off is a hateful way to die.

As a tribute to this hilarity I made the Azumanga Daioh Stuffed animal cafe Unifor "Dad" had. That Sakaki drew up and made. Now for what reason she decided to make eyes on the hat, or why she decided to make the hat rose coloured instead of proper "Chiyo-Dad" orange I have no idea. But Sakaki is awsome... So I needed to make this.

I mimicked her design as close as possible!! Notice how my hat has no middle seam (not an easy feat!) and it stays on with a calgarycosplay unique "inner-brim"... I swapped my usual toque style brim to the inside of the hat... So it looks great but still stays on!!! Also this hat sits higher on the head than my usual "cheek covering" design to be closer to the anime design. The eyes are hand painted. The hat is made out of sub-ice fleece. Great, it looks better than the official hats that are for sale! I don't know if you will see this, but Kiyohiko Azuma is actually male … "Hiko" is a common ending of male names in Japan, just as "ko" is a common ending of female names.
